Roles

The roles within the regiment are varied and each one has an important part to play in portraying this turbulant period in history.

Firstly I'd like to introduce you to our officers.  The majority of these have been with the regiment for some years and have each worked their way through the ranks to the exhalted positions they now hold.  As a result they have the honour of shouting at everyone else, and being the best dressed on the field.

Next on the list are the pikemen.  These often sturdy gents are usually rough and ready and described as the stalwarts of the regiment.  Although some of the 'pikeladies' may not appreciate that last comment!

The musketeers, are a blood-thirsty group.  Once they run out of powder they will happily turn their musket around and club the enemy to death!

The artillery are the big guns.  Historically they were often mercinaries who would fight for whomever paid them the most.  Thankfully though, this present crew are very happy being Lunsford's and rarely turn their coats.

Musicians were very important on the field as with the chaos of gunfire it was almost impossible to hear verbal commands.  However, it does help to have a sense of rhythm as our drum major will tell you if you're off the beat.

The living history is usually an added extra at events.  This portrays what the womenfolk and children would often be doing whilst the men were on the field, for example, cooking their lunch!

On the profile page I have added some 'little histories' about some of our members and what attracted them to the society.  This is to give you a chance to meet some of the real people who give their time to make events such a spectacular place to visit.
